Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions:
Part 1: Preparing the Denim & Pockets
-
Cut the Denim: Start by cutting a large rectangular piece from the leg of an old pair of jeans. Make sure it’s large enough to be the main body of your bag.
-
Add Structure: Iron the thermo adhesive polyester wadding onto the inside of the main denim piece. This will give the bag a firm, structured feel.
-
Create the Pockets: Take your two smaller denim pieces. Sew a strip of the red cotton fabric to the top of each piece to create a finished top edge for the pocket.
-
Attach the Pockets: Place the pockets on the main denim body, in your desired position. Pin them in place and sew along the side and bottom edges, leaving the top open.
Part 2: Making and Attaching the Handles
-
Make the Handles: Take your two long strips of red cotton fabric. Fold each strip in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and sew a seam along the long edge.
-
Turn the handles right side out and press them flat. Topstitch along both long edges for a professional finish.
-
Attach the Handles: Place the ends of the handles onto the main denim body, on the inside. Pin them in place and sew them securely to the denim.
Part 3: Assembling the Bag
-
Add the Inlay: The video shows a red cotton inlay being sewn to the sides and bottom of the bag. This creates a contrasting inner lining. Pin the red cotton fabric to the inside of the denim body, aligning the sides and bottom edges. Sew them together securely.
-
Sew the Sides: Fold the entire piece in half, with the right sides of the fabric together. Sew the side seams and the bottom seam, leaving the top open.
-
Create the Boxed Corners: At the bottom corners, pinch the side seam and the bottom seam together to form a triangle. Sew a straight line across the corner. Trim the excess fabric. Repeat for the other corner.
Part 4: Finishing Touches
-
Turn the entire bag right side out.
-
Use a point turner to gently push out the seams and corners.
-
Press the top edge of the bag, making sure the seam is hidden.
-
Topstitch all the way around the top of the bag to give it a professional finish.

Customization & Tips:
