Materials Needed 🧶
- Yarn: Approximately 100-150 yards of DK Weight (Light Worsted / #3) or soft Worsted Weight (#4) yarn.
- Main Color (MC): Soft Pink (Hat Body)
- Contrast Color 1 (CC1): White (Flower Petals)
- Contrast Color 2 (CC2): Yellow (Flower Center)
- Crochet Hook: 4.0 mm (US G-6), or the size needed to obtain gauge.
- Tapestry Needle: For seaming, gathering, and weaving in ends.
- Scissors.
Skill Level & Notes 💡
- Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate. Requires proficiency in the SC stitch and working in the back loop only for ribbing. The assembly involves simple seaming and gathering.
- Construction: The hat is worked flat in short rows (ribs run horizontally). The resulting rectangle is seamed into a tube, and the top is gathered for closure and shaping.
- Ribbing: All stitches from Row 2 onward are worked in the Back Loop Only (BLO).
- Sizing: The starting chain determines the height (forehead to crown). The number of rows determines the head circumference.
Gauge 📏
In Single Crochet in the Back Loop Only (SC-BLO) using a 4.0 mm hook: 8 SC rows (measured horizontally) and 8 SC sts (measured vertically) = 2 inches (5 cm) square.
- The finished rectangle should measure approximately 15-16 inches long by 6 inches high before seaming.

SC-BLO (Ribbing)
This forms the horizontal ribs of the turban:
- SC-BLO: Single Crochet worked into the Back Loop Only of the stitch from the previous row.
Puff Stitch (PS)
Used for the center of the flower:
- PS: [Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, pull up loop] 4 times in the same stitch. (9 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull through all 9 loops.
Part 1: The Turban Body (MC – Soft Pink) ◼️
The height of the starting chain will be the distance from the top of the forehead to the center crown of the head.

Row 1 (Foundation/Height): With MC, Ch 25. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (24 sc)
Row 2 (Ribbing): Ch 1, turn. Sc in the BLO of each st across. (24 sc)
Rows 3-64: Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures approximately 15-16 inches long, slightly stretched. This length should fit the head circumference snugly. Do not fasten off.
Part 2: Assembly & Shaping 👑
- Seam the Side: Ch 1. Fold the rectangle in half so that Row 1 edge meets Row 64 edge. Sl st the two edges together to form a tube. Fasten off, leaving a tail about 10 inches long for gathering.
- Top Shaping/Gathering: Using the tapestry needle, weave the tail in and out through the row-end stitches around the top edge of the turban (this edge will be the crown). Pull the yarn tail tightly to cinch the top hole closed. Secure the gathering with several tight stitches. Do not cut the yarn yet.
- Front Fold (Turban Look): Use the remaining yarn tail to sew a small, tight vertical seam about 1.5 inches long directly down the center-front of the turban. This will create the signature gathered/folded detail. Securely knot and weave in the end.

Part 3: The Accent Flower 🌸
A. Center (CC2 – Yellow):
- Make a magic ring. Ch 1. Work 1 PS into the ring. Ch 1. Sl st to the first st to close. Fasten off CC2, leaving a short tail to weave in.

B. Petals (CC1 – White):
- Attach CC1 into the chain at the back of the PS (or any point in the ring).
- Ch 1. [Sc in the ring, ch 3] rep 5 times around. Sl st to the beg sc. (5 ch-3 loops)
- Sl st into the first ch-3 sp. Ch 1. [Work 5 hdc into the ch-3 sp, sc in the next sc] rep around for the 5 petals. Sl st to the beg ch-1. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing and Final Touches 🫧
- Weave in all remaining ends on the flower and the turban body.
- Attach the Flower: Position the flower over the small, gathered vertical seam you created in the center-front of the turban (Part 2, Step 3). Use the long white tail and tapestry needle to sew the flower securely to the hat. Ensure it covers the seam completely.
- Blocking: Lightly steam block the turban, gently shaping the rounded crown and ensuring the ribbing is uniform. Allow to dry completely.
